The Significance of FREE WILL
What causes some people to have a successful life, while soooo many others don’t succeed? This is one of the great questions of the ages. Shakespeare spoke of dreary life when he wrote, “Out, out brief candle. Life is but a poor player… that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more.”
Certainly OUR MOST UNDERESTIMATED GIFT FROM THE LORD IS FREE WILL. Most of us are fairly certain that we have free will, but we aren’t too sure what that might mean.
Freedom of choice was a gift from God that was initiated in the Garden. The Lord gave humanity the Gift of CHOICE. And, He even allowed them to choose wrongly and live their whole lives with the consequences.
God gives you and me the ability to decide what course of action to take next. Like the famous movie Matrix, should you take the red pill or the blue pill?
His great gift to us is the ability to choose. We are not robots but creatures of choice. We can choose to jump!
You must have SELF-AWARENESS to understand how FREE WILL affects YOU.
Self-awareness is the capacity to be able to look within yourself and reconcile that you are an individual who is distinct, separable, and unique. Being self-aware means that you KNOW what you think. Therefore, you can be aware of your own God-given FREE WILL.
What Is Free Will?
The whole entire Kingdom opens up when you become conscious of your choices. Be aware that FREE WILL gives you the freedom to co-create with God – or not!
You have free will to make wise choices that determine your life. Scripture says to CHOOSE this day who you will serve, life or death. You choose salvation — or not.
“Each of us makes his own weather, determines the color of the skies in the emotional universe which he inhabits.” – Fulton J. Sheen
Having the freedom of choice and the ability to make decisions is a very important issue in our society. In many other cultures, people have more limited rights. People in prison or military have boundaries concerning their choices – the worst thing about jail punishment is often that their free will to choose is taken away! You wear this, you eat that, you stay in this one room, and you go to bed now.
You can’t blame God or your environment for everything that’s wrong in your life. In fact, self-awareness of your freewill demands that you take the non-spoken responsibility over your life.
You make a DECISION to choose.
You choose to believe that our lives have purpose.
You choose to declare and prophecy good!
You choose to do what you want. To eat too much. To exercise or not.
You choose to pursue your interests.
You choose to read this article with thought and consideration.
Everything that you choose becomes a development step into your future … it’s caused by your “Free Will” to decide! You can impact the world by helping others — every day!
Joel says that multitudes upon multitudes are in the valley of decision (Joel 3:14) and the time is NOW to make better decisions!
You have the incredible power to influence your world for good!
Your personal desires and beliefs cause you to form decisions.
Free will is your ability to choose whether or not you will finish reading this document — or not.
(Of course there are also some limitations to some choices, such as born with bad health, environments, culture, etc. but still, you choose your response to those limitations).
You have free will to decide rationally and deliberately or emotionally. You can choose on the basis of desires or values. Or… on a whim or the leading of the Lord. You choose because of your appetite or self-will.
“I know where I’m going and I know the truth, and I don’t have to be what you want me to be. I’m free to be what I want.” Muhammad Ali
Every day matters. Your choices matter because your future is determined by the decisions you make every day. That’s why the Holy Spirit abides — to lead you into the right choice. Remember to ask for direction!
In our day, it’s all about the “right to choose” — but this right must be balanced with the resulting consequences.
Daily, you choose what to eat, how to use your time, if you exercise, what you buy, who you talk to, etc.
People get sick because of wrong decisions; sick in their sprit, mind, and/or body. People choose to respond to situations. They choose to react, get mad, be happy, and forgive.
And, everyone faces temptations… and the decision is either to resist or succumb. Ultimately, each person reaps what they sow (Gal. 6:7). Still, the Lord, out of His “Don’t worry about mistakes. The beautiful thing about today is that you get the choice to make it better than yesterday. D.S.B.T. Do Something Big Today.” Dr. J. Kruse
